OVERVIEW \ Historical Oasis with rooms starting at $280
One of a few 5 star hotels in Puglia, La Sommita is perched high above the historic center of Ostuni in a building that was once a 16th Century Palace. Nondescript from the outside, the 15 rooms are a fusion of contemporary comforts and Gothic-Romanesque architecture featuring magnificent views extending to the Adriatic Sea and high cross-vaulted ceilings. The former palace is located in the heart of the old city with no street traffic, creating a complete oasis. Relax in one of the tranquil outdoor spaces, pamper yourself in the exquisite spa, or treat yourself to an incredible meal at the Michelin star restaurant, Cielo. This exquisite hideaway tucked in the ancient white-walled city does not disappoint.
ROOMS
The luxury hotel is a wonderful mix of old and new, rampart walls and vaulted stone ceilings with clean lines and modern features. White and cream tones compliment the natural stone, the low slung furniture adding an edge of coolness to the elegant space.
There are 15 beautiful rooms, all minimally decorated with minimal but luxurious furnishings including a king size bed and spectacular bathrooms featuring wood, marble and stone. All rooms have a flatscreen tv and free wifi.
Some of the suites have additional features such as sitting rooms, balconies and fireplaces. Le Volte Master Suite is our favorite with an indoor jacuzzi and private terrace.
HIGHLIGHTs
The Michelin star onsite restaurant Cielo is an obvious highlight, providing one of the finest and most unique meals in town with farm fresh ingredients.
There are multiple courtyards and terraces with shady daybeds perfect for daydreaming, naps or reading/
The spa, which was once the olive oil press, is a wonderful treat with massages, Turkish baths and various body treatments available.

The nearest airports are Brindisi ( 35km) and Bari ( 70km).

NEED TO KNOW
Not recommended for those needing more assistance as the hotel is lcoated in a no traffic area of the old town of Ostuni.
Although children over the age of 8 are welcome, the hotel is more geared towards adults.
Small dogs are welcome at an additional cost.
WORTH CHECKING OUT
Ostuni is a true jewel of a town with beautiful cobbled lanes lined with bakeries, shops and restaurants. The Piazza Della Liberta is a must see.
The beaches are close by - get a guest pass from reception to one of the nearby beach clubs.
The neighboring towns of Martina Franca, Cisternino, and Alberobello are all worth a visit - enjoy the scenic countryside of olive groves and vineyards.
The hotel can also arrange a wide variety of activities for guests such as horse back riding, cooking lessons, sailing and olive tasting.
