OVERVIEW \ Boutique design Hotel with rooms starting at $132

Surrounded by some of the best boutiques, restaurants, and galleries, this architectural design hotel is ideally located just outside the CBD in South Melbourne. Once the Cricket Club Hotel, this recently renovated boutique hotel has kept the 19th Century facade, but not much else, taking a bold approach with high quality finishes, rock star lighting and hand-crafted furniture. Enjoy a sunset drink on the rooftop with vertical gardens and city views, try the European inspired menu in the ultra-cool bistro, or relax in your stylish room. Coppersmith is laid-back and welcoming. It feels like coming home.

The 15 guest rooms are minimal and understated with muted fawn tones, comfortable beds, designer chairs, poufs and artful cupboards containing a mini bar, Nespresso machine and tea supplies. King and queen rooms are available.

The sophisticated bistro menu features the best seasonal produce from Victoria and further afield – and has already won plaudits. Delicious bar snacks are also available. Fans of craft beer and premium Australian wine will be equally satisfied. The breakfast selection (served daily from 7am to 10.30am) ranges from wholesome muesli to corn and zucchini fitters and poached eggs with spicy chorizo bacon.
